A green admit instead of a name search
Peak class change is a line, not a filing exercise. Members present the pass already on their phone, or a QR code. Staff scan. The screen shows whether to admit — not a roster they have to type into.
If the camera fails, staff still check the person in with a manual name search on the same screen. The visit is not lost because a lens fogged up.
Browser scanner, desk or kiosk
The scanner is a web page. Open it on a phone, tablet, or desktop. There is no staff app to install, update, or lock to a single device. QR and barcode both work.
Run it attended at the desk, or let members scan themselves at a kiosk. Both modes write the same door log. You choose the staffing model; you do not buy a second check-in product to change it.

The door log on the member record
Today’s check-ins, timestamps, and history sit next to the signed waiver PDF and the wallet pass. Desk staff are not reconciling three exports at close.
Advanced analytics — attendance patterns, pass adoption, and visit frequency — are on Pro. The door log itself ships with Starter, because a check-in product that hides yesterday’s visits is not useful at the desk.

Check-in is the last step of a three-step desk, not a separate product with its own login. The person in line already signed. The pass is already on the phone. The scan is the confirmation that they are the same person, in the building, right now.

What if the camera fails?
Staff can search by name and check the person in from the same screen.
